‘Business class nbn by Macquarie Telecom’ to future-proof voice and data connectivity with Australian leading customer service’

Macquarie Telecom (part of Macquarie Technology Group ASX: MAQ) has signed a six-year agreement with NBN Co. Creating 50 new jobs at Macquarie, the deal will provide telecommunications and data services to Australia’s business community. The deal combines NBN Co’s purpose-built network infrastructure with Macquarie’s industry-leading customer service standards, as proven by its Net Promoter Scores of 60+.

Business class nbn by Macquarie Telecom’ is a highly-specialised, dedicated offering that provides Australia’s organisations with:

  • Access to the full suite of Macquarie’s voice, internet, data and SD-WAN products created for business, delivered over NBN Co’s Multi-Technology-Mix, including fibre builds on customer request;
  • Dedicated, all Australian based nbn™ service delivery, assurance and support staff for Macquarie customers;
  • Coast-to-coast access to all sites in Australia, unlocking the potential of businesses no matter where they choose to operate.

“Australian organisations have long demanded greater capability and value than they have traditionally received from last century telcos; they want services and support to match their innovative ambitions,” said Luke Clifton, Group Executive, Macquarie Telecom. “Business class nbn by Macquarie Telecom combines NBN Co’s national infrastructure with our superior technologies, like SD-WAN, to deliver to these demands and elevates Macquarie to tier one telco status.”

“Our partnership is an opportunity for customers to develop their nbn-readiness plan with our help. The nbn™ access network will touch every business in Australia now or in the near future. Those organisations which capitalise will have a future-proof investment through which they can meet today’s business needs, while securing long-term choice for their organisations. We’re taking an untelco, proactive approach to the nbn™ access network, where other telcos are using it as a last resort and not putting customers first.”

Business class nbn by Macquarie Telecom will access NBN Co’s business grade products, including asymmetrical (TC4), symmetrical (TC2) and Enterprise Ethernet capabilities, delivered over a virtual network-to-network (v-NNI) link.

Macquarie’s nbn™ services will be available to all new and existing customers – comprising the Australian corporate sector – and will be managed by Macquarie’s dedicated and locally-based nbn support team, creating 50 new jobs in the process as part of the deal.

“We welcome today’s announcement from Macquarie to launch business-grade services through the nbn™ access network and look forward to working with the company to deliver to Australian businesses,” said Paul Tyler, Chief Customer Officer – Business, NBN Co.

“Since establishing our dedicated business function at NBN Co, we’ve made significant headway working alongside industry partners to deliver wholesale business-grade products, services and a tailored pricing model to open up more choice and flexibility in the market.

“Our multi-technology model also provides us with the flexibility to deliver the rollout at scale and pivot the mix of our access technologies where it makes sense in order to support organisations with higher bandwidth requirements,” said Tyler.

This NBN Co. milestone agreement also introduces opportunities for organisations located outside Australia’s capital cities and metropolitan centres thanks to the rollout of the nbn™ access network within regional and remote communities.

“High-speed connectivity has been prohibitive for many businesses in the past, especially in outer metro or regional centres,” said Clifton. “Price gouging has been common. Access to cloud and internet-based applications has been near-impossible for some. The rollout of the nbn™ access network brings real competition to these markets for the very first time, allowing our customers to realise the benefit of the NBN Co’s investment in its networking infrastructure.”

This agreement with NBN Co reflects Macquarie’s commitment to providing customers with a portfolio of specialised options that best suit their business requirements without forcing those organisations to lock-in to a single wholesaler.
