Let’s rewind to 2016. Macquarie Telecom sat down and analysed the industry, recognising that there were several key trends happening. What we recognised was that a huge disruption was about to unfold in networking and business data markets – a disruption that was great for the customer.
That disruption was SD-WAN.
A year was spent researching, testing and meeting with every vendor on the planet supplying SD-WAN solutions. These were long nights, with plenty of blood, sweat and tears.
Finally, in August 2017, we went live with our market leading SD-WAN solution, with our partner, VeloCloud, now part of VMware.
This made us the first Australian telecom company to deliver a true SD-WAN solution. And the market responded. Within a month, we’d set up 100 sites.
This brings us to the present day. With over 2500 sites running VMWare SD-WAN by VeloCloud, we are the SD-WAN solution leader, not only in Australia, but the whole Asia Pacific region.
This was recognised earlier this year at VMWare’s Partner Innovation Awards at the Partner Leadership Summit 2019, where we were recognised with the Partner Innovation Award for VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud Solution in Asia-Pacific.

VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud was named a leader in the 2018 Gartner Magic Quadrant for WAN Edge Infrastructure.
